On New Year's Eve, 150 gendarmes participated in the control system spread throughout Haute-Loire.
Between the end of the afternoon and the end of the night, the gendarmes checked 590 vehicles and 639 people. During these checks, the soldiers of the three companies and the Departmental Road Safety Squadron (EDSR) noted several offenses including 9 positive blood alcohol levels. Of these 9 blood alcohol levels, 8 had a criminal level, i.e. more than 0.8 grams per liter of blood.
They also recorded 3 driving under the influence of drugs, an AFD (Fixed Criminal Fine) for drugs, two insurance failures and 3 road police offenses.
In addition to these checks, an accident resulted in a positive blood alcohol level during the night. At 5:15 a.m., a car crashed in rue des Acacias and prevented access to the leisure center. Unable to reach a repairer, the motorist called the police. Asked to check his blood alcohol level, this 20-year-old person, who also did not hold a driving license and who had borrowed the car, revealed a level of 1.18 grams per liter of blood
