The long-awaited rain could arrive during this afternoon of Monday, December 30. Météo France is issuing a yellow warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms valid this afternoon and until 7 p.m. this evening in the South, West, North and East regions.
Showers should increase in intensity and be locally sustained “with good accumulations” indicates Météo France.
As these showers take on a stormy character, caution is recommended, particularly around ravines.
The RN5, Cilaos road, had to be closed to traffic due to bad weather conditions which caused a mudslide in the Petite Caverne sector.
Cloudy overflows are occurring towards the ocean, with showers which could end up on the coast. Only the seaside between Pointe au Sel and Saint-Joseph should retain some clearing.
The showers will dissipate in the evening, before returning to calm next night.
