The archipelago of Mayotte was devastated by Cyclone Chido in the middle of December. The Fondation de France has appealed for donations to help the people of the island. “The generosity for Mayotte has been absolutely wonderful. I would like to thank everyone who made a donation,” confided Axelle Davezac, general director of the Fondation de France, to RTL.
“We collected more than 24 million euros in two weekswhich is completely exceptional”, confided the head of the organization this Sunday, December 29. After Emmanuel Macron, François Bayrou is expected in the coming hours in Mayotte. Several ministers will also be present.
According to the general director of the Foundation of Francethere is a “need to be able to accelerate, particularly in the most remote areas of the island, where aid has the most difficulty in arriving”. Schools, hard hit by the cyclone, are at the center of concerns.

Regarding reconstruction, the general director of the Fondation de France believes that “types of construction more resistant to winds and squalls” must be used.
