How to take 2024 off and enter 2025 on the right foot? The options are obviously more numerous than the chances of coming across a pearl when opening your New Year’s Eve oyster.

“24 Heures” helps its undecided readers to choose by offering them a short overview that is necessarily subjective and totally incomplete, but which nevertheless has the advantage of mentioning festive events in the four corners of the canton.

And for those who would use it as an excuse, remember that a simple candlelit meal in your living room – as a couple or with friends – does not prevent you from going to more popular places for the second part of the evening.

The youngest, but not only them, since these meetings are intended for everyone, can head to one or other of the many evenings organized everywhere by Youth. Of these New Year’s Eve celebrations, generally in the meal-ball mode, we have retained those offered by the companies of Pailly, Champvent and Palézieux, respectively based around the themes of Mexico, the Roaring Twenties and the Western. Or that of Saint-Cierges (in Chapelle-sur-Moudon), where it will be appropriate to advance masked towards 2025, while at Moudon, the Christmas Circus offers a meal show under a marquee – a tradition totally compatible with the fireworks that the town has gotten into the habit of setting off at 12:30 a.m. in front of the Saint-Étienne temple.

From the height

Several other municipalities are setting the scene on fire this New Year’s Eve. Starting with Rougemont, in Pays-d’Enhaut. Or even in Diablerets, where the fires can be admired from the top. In addition to a splendid view, the Diablerets cabin (2,400 meters above sea level) offers a raclette feast for what constitutes the highest New Year in French-speaking Switzerland.

Lausanne also follows this desire to shed light on the first minutes of the new year, perhaps so that it is less dark internationally than the previous one. Since 1904, the Friends of the City have in fact “set fire” to the cathedral when everyone embraces each other. This moment shared between magic and enchantment is preceded, inside the building, by a “fireworks display”, musical this time, provided on the great organs by Jean-Christophe Geiser and Manon Devulder.

Music

In a slightly more “muscular” atmosphere, the MAD (in five different locations), the D! Club (in balloon release mode and confetti galore) as well as the Bleu Lézard (for the occasion “renamed” Le Grand Ca$ino du Bleu Lézard) are pulling out all the stops. And let’s also note that Fif One, the DJ brewer of the Fleurs du Malt, will join forces in Lausanne with Silver Silk to set fire to the Bossettethanks to postpunk sets, but also more general ones.

Let’s take a little trip back to the Roaring Twenties, always in vogue at this time of year. They are at the heart of the evening prepared by the Gimel gym companyand also the concert that the Tiffany Ensemble gives at the Yverdon temple (7 p.m.). A spa town where the last evening of the year is cultural, since the Yverdon Literary Circle will premiere his annual show, “The Importance of Being Earnest.”
