Tours-Val de Loire airport experienced a new deviation on Saturday December 28, marking the eighth incident since October. This time, a flight from Marrakech, taking off at 6:39 a.m., was forced to land in Clermont-Ferrand, in Puy-de-Dôme, due to unfavorable weather conditions, according to The New Republic.
The passengers, some of whom were returning from a stay in Morocco, had nevertheless hoped to land on the Touraine tarmac. A witness to the incident reported that the plane, a Ryanair Boeing 738, first managed to break through the cloud ceiling. However, after several maneuvers, the pilot had to turn around and direct the aircraft towards Clermont-Ferrand. The landing took place around 10:15 a.m., but the travelers remained stuck inside the plane, waiting for an outcome.
“After landing, we were unable to leave the aircraft. We were left on the tarmac without heating, in suffocating heat, and without any clear information.declared the witness, quoted by the same source. An hour later, the passengers were still on the plane, unable to exit.
At Tours airport, around 200 other passengers, scheduled to take off at 9:50 a.m. towards Marrakech, found themselves in the same situation. While waiting for a departure announced for 12:30 p.m., the wait became more and more painful, especially since the airport heating was out of service.
This incident is part of a dark series where flights to Tours have been diverted several times due to weather conditions.
