Despite his defeat, Kevin Owens left Saturday Night's Main Event with the Winged Eagle belt, which Cody Rhodes had received for the evening.
During WWE SmackDown on December 27, 2024, Kevin Owens was still in possession of this belt and Nick Aldis demanded that he return it. However, Owens refused and requested a rematch with an impartial referee.
Cody Rhodes then intervened, proposing a Ladder Match with both belts hanging above the ring. The General Manager of SmackDown made this fight official for the next WWE Premium Live Event. So, Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will face off for the Undisputed WWE Title in a Ladder Match at the 2025 Royal Rumblescheduled for Saturday February 1, 2025.
