The Chamber of Deputies of Paraguay adopted a new resolution in which it supports the sovereignty of Morocco over its Southern Provinces.
In this resolution, adopted last week, Paraguayan deputies reaffirm their support for the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as a basis for achieving a peaceful, just solution consistent with international legality.
The Chamber of Deputies further calls on the Paraguayan Government to adopt this same position, through the publication of official communiqués, and urges it to express its explicit support for the Moroccan Initiative within the international spaces and forums in which it takes leaves.
It should be noted that the Chamber of Deputies of Paraguay had adopted, since the opening of the Moroccan Embassy in Asunción in November 2016, seven resolutions, 5 of which express explicit support for the territorial integrity of Morocco and its sovereignty. on the Sahara.
The Chamber of Deputies is thus aligned with the international dynamic driven by HM King Mohammed VI in support of the autonomy plan and the sovereignty of Morocco over its Sahara.
This resolution follows another adopted on November 13 by the Paraguayan Senate, in support of “the Autonomy Initiative presented by Morocco as a basis for achieving a peaceful, just, lasting and satisfactory solution for the parties, within the framework of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco”.
Thus, the two Chambers of the Paraguayan National Congress agree, on the one hand, to express unequivocal support for the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as the only basis for any solution to this regional dispute, within the framework of national sovereignty of Morocco and its territorial integrity, and on the other hand, urge their government to adopt this same position, through official communiqués, and to provide explicit support within international forums.
