In November 2024, the consumer price index starts to rise again in Reunion, after stability in October and a decline of 0.8% in September. Prices of manufactured goods and energy are increasing. Those of food, services and tobacco are stable
Over one year, in November, prices increased by 1.4% in Reunion, similarly to the national level (+1.3%). Inflation over one year is stabilizing on the island, and remains much lower than at the start of the year when it exceeded 4%.
In November 2024, compared to the month of October, the consumer price index starts to rise again in Reunion (+0.4%); it was stable in October and fell in September (-0.8%). In November, prices of manufactured goods and energy increase, while prices of food, services and tobacco are stable. At the national level, prices fell over one month (-0.1%).
Prices of manufactured products increased in November (+0.9%). The prices of clothing and shoes continued to rise (+2.9% after +0.4% in October), those of health products fell slightly (-0.2%) and the prices of other manufactured products increased ( +0.7%).
In November, energy prices started to rise again (+1%) after two months of decline, mainly due to the increase in the prices of petroleum products (+1.9%). In November, the price of a liter of gasoline increases by 4 cents and that of diesel by 2 cents. The prices of gas bottles, still benefiting from local aid, and electricity are stable.
Prices of services stabilized in November, after increasing in October and falling in September. The drop in the prices of communications services (-0.2%) and transport (-6.6%) is offset by the increase in the prices of health services (+0.4%), rents, water, and household waste removal (+0.2%) and other services (+0.6%). Food prices are stable in November, as in October. Prices of food products excluding fresh produce are stable; these products account for 88% of the food budget of Reunion households. As for fresh products, their prices fell again (-0.9%).
In November, tobacco prices are stable.
