Senegal is preparing to host Liberia this Saturday, as part of the return match of the qualifiers for the second round of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), with the firm intention of securing their ticket to this competition. During their last meeting in Monrovia, the Senegalese were able to snatch a 1-1 draw, which gives them a slight advantage for this decisive confrontation at home.

The coach of the local Lions, determined to strengthen his squad, called up two new players to compensate for certain shortcomings observed during the first leg. Among these recruits is Daouda Ba, defender of the Dakar Sacré-Cœur club. The coach is also counting on Moussa Diallo, from Wally Daan, to bring more dynamism to an attack sometimes lacking inspiration.

Senegalese fans are expected in large numbers to support their team, the reigning champion, who hopes to capitalize on the precious point brought back from Monrovia. The objective is to validate their qualification for CHAN 2025, scheduled from February 1 to 28 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Opposite, Liberia is not left out and intends to do well, drawing inspiration from its victory against Senegal, 2-1, during the CHAN 2023 qualifiers. However, the context of this match is good different and promises a competitive encounter.

At the same time, other African selections such as Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mauritania, and Sudan displayed solid performances during the first legs of this second round, thus affirming their qualification ambition. According to the APS, the competition already welcomes Tunisia, Libya and Morocco among its participants, these teams having benefited from automatic qualification after the withdrawal of Algeria and Egypt.
