A new type of bus is about to see the light of day in Île-de-France. Called the Tzen 4, this 24 meter long and 100% electric bus will replace the current line 402 on a 14 km route in Essonne. Announced as a world first, the entry into service of this “bi-articulated bus” is expected for the year 2025.
Over the next few weeks and months, public transport in the Ile-de-France region will bring about new changes. Opening of the Villejuif – Gustave Roussy station on line 14, commissioning of the first cable car in Île-de-France or even the arrival of new trains on line 10 of the metro… users will be able to discover several new features in 2025 , before the inauguration of line 15 South of the Grand Paris Express, now announced for summer 2026.
Another novelty should get people talking. Have you ever heard of Tzen 4 ? Advertised as “ a world first », the Tzen 4 is a 100% electric bus with a length of 24 meters. It should replace, during 2025, the current bus line 402 over 14 km in Essonne. In detail, the Tzen 4 will circulate between “La Treille” to Viry-Châtillon and the RER station of Corbeil-Essonnesconsidered the “ the busiest section of the greater suburbs », according to Île-de-France Mobilités.
Much more than a simple bus, the Tzen 4 is a “ bi-articulated bus » which can accommodate up to 140 people, compared to 100 in the buses of the current line 402. In addition to being “ more comfortable “, this new bus is also intended to be “ more efficient ”, thanks to dedicated lanes on a major part of the line and priority at intersections, but also “ more environmentally friendly ». The Tzen 4 will circulate in this way thanks to a “ ground charging in less than 5 minutes » !
According to Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), more than 40,000 travelers are expected every day on the Tzen 4. 5 municipalities will be crossed (for a total of 30 stations), with strategic districts served, such as the Grande Borne district and the ZAC Center-ville in Grigny, the Plateau and Canal districts in Évry-Courcouronnes, the Hospital Center South Francilien and the Montagne des Glaises ZAC in Corbeil-Essonnes.
Before the arrival of Tzen 4therefore announced for the year 2025, please note that the current line 402 will be renamed 4206 from January 6. This will circulate on the Tzen 4 own website with a reinforced offer. Count on a bus every 7 minutes during peak hours on weekdays, then a bus every 10 to 15 minutes on weekends.
