Japan Airlines victim of computer hacking. The Japanese company announced on Thursday, December 26, that it had been the victim of a cyberattack which caused flight delays, before declaring that its computer systems had been restored. On X, Japan Airlines first reported a “failure” of its computer system since Thursday 7:24 a.m. Japanese time (11:24 p.m. French time). She then wrote that she “identified the cause and extent of the malfunction” and ensured that the system “has been restored”.
“The issue was caused by a significant data attack and did not result in leaks of customer information or virus infections”added the second Japanese airline.
Ticket sales for domestic and international flights departing Thursday, which had been suspended for a while, have resumed, Japan Airlines announced. The cyberattack did not cause large-scale disruptions, but the company earlier reported that 24 domestic flights experienced delays of more than 30 minutes. Public broadcaster NHK also reported problems with the company's baggage check-in system, which disrupted flights at several airports in the country.
