Ln December 14, in the evening, residents of a residence in Parempuyre, in the metropolitan area, rushed out of their homes: in the parking lot, a car was burning and the fire spread to a porch. While driving around the block, residents come across a motorist behaving strangely. He seems to admire the spectacle, stammers as soon as he is questioned and disappears.

Before he disappears into the night, residents note the license plate. This element will help the gendarmes who trace a suspect: a resident of Saint-André-de-Cubzac aged around fifty, Cédric Peyre, former spouse of one of the residents of Parempuyre. The couple has been separated for ten years but conflicts persist.

Recognized on a photographic board by a witness, Cédric Peyre is placed in police custody. Investigations bring to light other events, still in the same residence. Already in December 2022, his ex's car had been damaged, the tires had been punctured and a fire had damaged it. The victim had filed a complaint, specifying that she suspected her former partner but the investigation did not allow him to be confused. Then, in September 2024, around ten vehicles in the residence had their tires punctured.

Four years in prison

Implicated for all of these damages, Cédric Peyre contests en bloc against the investigators. And maintains this position when he finds himself prosecuted before the Bordeaux criminal court, as part of an immediate appearance procedure, Monday December 23.

This “depressed”, “fragile”, “alone” man, already convicted in 2019 for similar acts targeting another former partner of his, claims to be “a stranger to this series of events”, underlines his lawyer, Me Quentin Guernigou, who pleaded for acquittal.

Chaired by David Meleuc, the court did not follow this path and exceeded the requisitions by sentencing him to four years in prison and three years of socio-judicial monitoring. Imprisoned after the hearing, Cédric Peyre could appeal.

“For my client, this judgment is a relief. For ten years, she has experienced this form of persecution. She felt heard and understood,” reacts Me Félix Molténi, the lawyer for the defendant's ex. The latter will also have to compensate six other residents who have filed a civil suit. People “whom he did not know and whose vehicles he targeted because he did not know what his ex’s new car was”, notes their lawyer, Me Laury Costes.
