The Collective of Civil Society Organizations for Elections (COSCE) of Senegal has been nominated for the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize, a distinction that places Senegalese civil society in the international spotlight.

This appointment, a rare honor for Senegal, is recognition of COSCE's continued efforts in favor of peace, justice and stability in the country. In an official statement, COSCE expressed its pride in representing Senegalese civil society through this appointment. “Senegalese civil society is proudly honored through COSCE, which was nominated for the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize, alongside other international organizations working for peace and justice. This exceptional recognition represents a historic first for Senegal, highlighting the constant efforts of civil society to promote peace and stability,” underlined the collective.

This appointment comes after years of hard work to ensure free, transparent and peaceful elections in Senegal. COSCE played a key role in mobilizing civil society and voters, while advocating for a more inclusive political environment that respected human rights.
