The Christmas tree is an integral part of it and can be recycled rather than thrown into household waste. This is why the Cannes Lérins Agglomeration is organizing the “A second life for my tree” operation by making numerous tree drop-off sites available to its residents throughout the month of January.
Collection of natural fir trees (without decoration) and not flocked
In Cannes, collection takes place without appointment every Tuesday (7, 14, 21 and 28)
and Thursdays (2, 9, 16, 23 and 30) of January 2025.
The fir trees must be placed near the columns and glass terminals,
the evening before from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m.

The collected fir trees can be recycled rather than thrown into household waste and given a second life. A part will be crushed and reused as mulch for municipal green spaces or as dry input for collective composting sites. The rest is composted and resold at attractive prices to local farmers and horticulturists.
In 2024, the Cannes Lérins Agglomeration collected 4,356 fir trees in order to recycle and add value to them.

Depositing fir trees in a recycling center
Recycling centers can receive all fir trees, including artificial or flocked ones. Individuals can deposit up to 1.5 tonnes of waste free of charge per year per household.
