In 300 days, residents will be able to benefit from a longer tram line. This Saturday, December 21, 2024a counter displaying the number of days before the inauguration of the extension of tram line 1 was unveiled on the square in front of Montpellier Sud de station. This equipment marks a key stage in the project, which will be completed on October 17, 2025. This new infrastructure will connect the Sud de France TGV station to the Montpellier Saint-Roch station in 20 minutes.

The extension of line 1 adds 1 300 meters of rails to the existing route. It will leave the current terminus at Odysseum to reach Montpellier Sud de France station, the new terminus. Once commissioned, this line will become a strategic connection, facilitating travel between the city's two main rail hubs.

A major investment for Montpellier

The extension of line 1 represents an investment of 50 million euros for the Montpellier Metropolis. In addition to connecting the two stations, this new infrastructure is part of a broader mobility project, aiming to create multimodal exchange hubs. Ultimately, the extension of bus line 15 and the future busram line 2 will complete this transport offer.
