But : Ismaily (22e) for the people of Lille
Expulsion: Benzia (90e) on the Rouen side.
The Lille year is really going strong.
The Robert-Diochon stadium was packed to relive the exploits of last season, but Lille was simply stronger. Rouen supporters took advantage of their second sold-out match in a row to see their players, the rain, but also a team that walks on water. Lille have not lost since mid-September, i.e. 17 matches. Tonight, they came out of a complicated match after a solid first half. Jonathan David slipped a ball Rayan Cherquiniesque for Ismaily, who scores his first goal of the season. That was enough (0-1, 21e).
Mitchell Bakker, Genesio's Swiss army knife given his right winger positioning this evening, opened his foot too much (44e). Jonathan David too, this time on the post and despite a nice feint from Sahrawi (45e+2). FC Rouen, now coached by Régis Brouard, lost its nerve at the end of the match less controlled by Lille. His central midfielder Mustapha Benzia sent a ball into the head of Gabriel Gudmunsson, and was logically sent off (90e). Brouard conceded his first defeat, and can now concentrate on the Champions League Project of its president Ivan Postel.
After 63 games this year, Jonathan David will finally be able to breathe.
