That's it, they have finally arrived! Christmas holidays rang in Toulouse and Haute-Garonne from the evening of Friday December 20, 2024. For the holidays, the capital of Occitanie has no shortage of ideas for outings to do with the family. Toulouse News gives you a selection of 10 events not to be missed!
#1. Christmas markets: there is still time!
In the Pink City, it is not yet too late to enjoy the Christmas villages and markets and their many gourmet stands which will still be visible until:
- this Sunday, December 22 on the Allées Jules-Guesde;
- this Tuesday, December 24 on Les Ramblas;
- Sunday December 29 on Place du Capitole and Square Charles-de-Gaulle.
Some activities will still remain until the end of the school holidays, January 5, 2025, including the ice rink on Place du Capitole.
#2. Christmas parades
Furthermore, this Saturday, December 21, three Christmas parades will parade through the streets of Toulouse to celebrate the start of the holidays:
- at 6 p.m. from Place des Carmes;
- at 6:30 p.m. from Place Saint-Etienne;
- at 7 p.m. from the Victor-Hugo market.
The three strolls will meet between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Quai de la Daurade for a magical and festive moment on the banks of the Garonne!
Also meet in front of the façade of the Hôtel-Dieu to enjoy a magical projection which will run in a loop, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
#3. Asterion celebrating at the Halle de la Machine
For the holidays, the Halle de la Machine offers nighttime evenings Sunday December 22 and Monday December 23, until 10 p.m. The opportunity to visit this site in the Montaudran district of Toulouse in the heat of the burning torchières, and to enjoy the Carré Sénart Manège under the stars.
Torch in hand, Asterion the Minotaur, who played the role of protector of the Pink City against Lilith last October, will extend his travels until 9:30 p.m.
La Halle de la Machine will offer other events throughout the holidays: crazy fables to listen at 4 p.m. from Saturday December 21 to Sunday January 5 or a Small Mechanics Lunch with the flavors of the end-of-year celebrations from Saturday December 21 to Monday December 30.
#4. Harry Potter at the Zénith in Toulouse
The famous little wizard arrives all in music at the Zénith in Toulouse. Le 4ᵉ opposite from the saga: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will be screened in the original version with subtitles, while the Yellow Socks Orchestra will play music from the film live. More than 90 musicians will be on stage.
See you on Friday, December 27 for the doors opening at 6 p.m. Prices between 25 and 79 euros. Online reservations.
#5. Oli presents his Imaginary Museum
The Abattoirs in Toulouse gave Oli carte blanche. The rapper from the famous Toulouse duo has created his Imaginary Museum there as part of an exhibition to be admired until May 4, 2025!
Visitors will be able to discover works by iconic artists like JR, Joan Miro, Pierre Soulages or Andy Warhol… or even a certain Claude Nougaro! Reso, Supraw, Boby, Juliette Green and even Invader and Keith Haring will also be present (non-exhaustive list!).

#6. Extinct giants to observe in life size!
Extinct giants are honored at Toulouse Museum. Its latest exhibition – visible until June 29, 2025 – takes visitors to discover eight little-known species from the Cenozoic, the era of mammals, which began 65 million years ago… and which still continues today. days. All these animals are represented in real size. Something to impress young and old!

#7. Christmas in the Roaring Twenties
What if for the end of year celebrations, we took a leap in time? L'Envol des Pionniers, in the Montaudran district of Toulouse, offers the opportunity to experience Christmas in the time of the Roaring Twenties during a very special open day on Sunday, December 22.
The museum will open its doors free of charge from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a festive day entitled “The Christmas of the Flight of the Pioneers”. On the program? Visitors will be able to dance to the jazzy rhythm of Christmas mademoiselles, a trio of singers. A legendary plane will also be recreated with the Laté 28 association.

#8. Celebrate the transition to 2025
There is Christmas, but there is also New Year ! And to get through to 2025 in the best conditions, what could be better than a 100% humorous evening.

#9. Sound and light shows in Saint-Sernin
From Thursday January 2, and until April 8, 2025, the Saint-Sernin basilica will offer a show like we rarely see at 7:15 p.m. and 9 p.m. Inside this little Toulouse gem, sounds and lights will set the tempo at the heart of an immersive one-hour show.
It will also be the scene of a 3D video projection carefully designed to match its architecture. Vaults, nave, stone walls will brighten up with a thousand and one colors during 80 evenings, thanks to 24 laser video projectors and 200 light projectors. Virtually, but not only…

#10. For Christmas, let's put on skis!
Thanks to the latest snowfall, several ski resorts have opened their slopes. The opportunity to enjoy powder snow for the end-of-year holidays!
In Haute-Garonne, you just have to choose between different resorts: Luchon-Superbagnères; The Mourtis; Bourg-d'Oueil, the cheapest resort in the Pyrenees, or Peyragudes.
A free shuttle which starts from Gourdan-Polignan (Haute-Garonne), at the foot of the Pyrenees, is set up. It also provides access to one of the little-known but enchanting sites of the Pyrenees: the Nordic ski resort of Nistos Cap Nestes (Hautes-Pyrénées).
