Project for phases 1 & 2 of the Nouvelle Provence Côte d’Azur Line (LNPCA)
More than €1.2 billion allocated by the State and local authorities to carry out all phase 1 operations

During the Steering Committee of December 20, 2024, co-chaired by Christophe MIRMAND, Prefect of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, and Renaud MUSELIER, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region, Deputy President of the Region of , President of the Société de la Ligne Nouvelle Provence Côte d'Azur, the State and all funding communities have taken note funding of €1.228 billion, in equal parts, to carry out phase 1 of the LNPCA project.

With this multi-year commitment, the State and the communities can launch all the work operations of phase 1 of the LNPCA project, in particular:

• In the Alpes-Maritimes: creation of the Airport multimodal exchange hub (PEM),

• In the : execution of shuttle operations, in particular creation of the Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer PEM and redevelopment of that of La Pauline, difference in level at La Pauline of the bifurcation between the -Vintimille and La Pauline lines. Hyères, creation of footbridges to cross the tracks at Carnoules, Puget-Ville, Cuers-Pierrefeu and Solliès-Pont stations, electrification of storage tracks in station,

• In Bouches-du-Rhône: creation of the Saint-André PEM and upgrading to 2 tracks of the Arenc multimodal stop and the existing line between Marseille Saint-Charles and Arenc, development of the current platform of the Saint- Charles to strengthen the regularity and reliability of trains, which will precede the construction of the underground station and the “Halles Saint Charles” on the surface.

The partners also decided on the level of financial participation in the construction of the maintenance and storage site for the western corridor in and in the process of rehousing the inhabitants of the Bassens 2 city.

These commitments, following the decisions of the board of directors of the SLNPCA (which provides funding for communities) of December 6, 2024 and of the French Transport Infrastructure Financing Agency (AFIT France) of December 18, 2024, complete the €212 million contracted in 2024 for carrying out the final studies of phase 1 and undertaking the first works.

For phase 2 operations, pre-project studies are underway and will be completed in early 2027.

“I welcome the inclusion of these 1.2 billion euros in the budgets of the AFITF and the SLNPCA, which will make it possible to gradually begin all of the work on phase 1 of the project. From now on, the challenge will be to keep the work schedule and stay within the financial envelope. The improvement of the three railway junctions of Marseille, Toulon and Nice will be a first step towards the implementation of real Metropolitan Regional Express Services (SERM) in the three metropolises of the region” declares Christophe MIRMAND, prefect of the Provence-Alpes region -Côte d’Azur.
