Stéphane Dumont after ESTAC – Metz (3-0): “Almost nothing happens on our goal, it’s a real performance”

Already winner of FC Metz in the championship a few months earlier, ESTAC once again foiled one of the favorites in the race to climb Ligue 2 in Ligue 1 this Friday 20/12, in the 32nd finals of the French Cup ! The goals from Ripart (author of a double) and Irié sank the Grenats who were much less sharp and overwhelmed in certain phases at the Stade de l'Aube. At the microphone of beIN Sports, the Trojan coach Stéphane Dumont looks back on this great success which puts an end in the best way to a complicated calendar year 2024, but encouraging in view of the latest results of his team.

The reaction of the Troyes coach

“These results can be explained because we work well, I think! The players, the staff… We are moving forward. We needed a little confidence, we see that everything is falling into place and that's good. Beyond the score, I'm happy because we are super solid. We are super structured. Almost nothing happens with our goal, in our last ten matches we have had to keep 8 clean sheets. It's a real performance, I think. When we are able to create situations like that, we score. We're finishing the year pretty well and we'll be in the draw on Sunday evening, that was the goal. »

“We want to make the players understand that there is a framework and a structure which is obligatory and that afterwards, they can freely bring what they are capable of doing. I know them all, some more than others, I think that when they have confidence, my players are capable of doing great things. There is something fundamental which is organization and coherence. The players respond wonderfully, in terms of organization and effort […]. We will be able to rest, it slows us down but given where we come from, I think we still need to regenerate ourselves. We have just advanced, we are qualified for the round of 16… And then we will see in 2025! »
