After an autumn of fierce competitions in the department’s undergrowth, the cyclo-cross season will end this Saturday, December 21, around the Poitiers velodrome track with the famous “American” race. A well-established tradition since the creation of the “Souvenir Jacky Chazaud”, the leader of the Union Vélocipédique Poitevine (UVP) who died in 2021, this team event of two in relay lasting one hour, will conclude a dense cycling year.

Pairs are created based on affinities, sometimes independently of the respective clubs of the runners who, the rest of the year, are opponents. Some, like Steve and Sullivan Gaborit (US Saint-Pierre-des-Corps), David and Mathéo Bonnin (CC Vervant), Eric and Stéphane Cron (VC Chambrais and JPC Lussac), or Jean-Luc and Noam Guillon (JPC Lussac and UV Descartes) will take the opportunity to run as a family.
Among the juniors (U19), three pairs will be there: Camoin and Gaschet (UV Poitiers), Cotier (Creuse Oxygène) and Garnier (Vélophile Naintréenne) will battle it out with Cacault (APOGE 17) and Chavanel (Creuse Oxygène). Bib number 1 will be awarded to the only female duo composed of Cassie Aubry and Juline Raimond (UV Poitiers).
