During the last municipal council, Alain Brest, opposition municipal councilor and former mayor of the city, read a letter to Nicolas Géraud, the mayor and 3rd vice-president of the Gaillac Graulhet urban community (CAGG), delivering his concerns about the functioning of the latter. The mayor responds.
In his missive, the former mayor expresses his “deep concerns about the functioning of the CAGG”. In his conclusion, he asks the mayor to intervene in order “to remedy these major dysfunctions. » He finishes his letter hoping that the mayor will take his concerns into consideration and count on a commitment from him to improve the situation.
Alain Brest evokes his deep concern, as an elected official and citizen, “by several aspects of the governance of the CAGG which seem to compromise its effectiveness and its long-term development. »
He details four points which “particularly concern” him. The elected official cites the lack of information for elected officials, the absence of strategy, the locked functioning and the opacity of the decision-making processes. Finally, he notes the lack of consideration of the consequences of decisions, particularly financial ones. Nicolas Géraud delivers his response to La Dépêche du Midi. He defends himself against the passivity that the municipal councilor seems to accuse him of.
“If it is a question of calling into question the decision on the CFE, we did not wait for Mr. Brest. We immediately took a position in defense of artisans and traders, thanks to which they obtained a spread over seven years of the increase,” retorts the mayor.
The councilor lists the advantages that the municipality benefits from thanks to the agglomeration: the media library, the Dressière room, the renovation of the Las Peyras school or the 1 euro canteen.
“Alain Brest does not sit on the CAGG and only speaks about it through hearsay. However, to act, you must be inside and not outside this structure. »
The mayor attributes malicious intentions to his opponent. “Once again, this opponent seeks, not to support the mayor of Rabastens when he leads fair fights, but to try to weaken him. He also tried to do this by trying to blame the EHPAD problem on him. »
He concludes by alluding to his interlocutor’s mandate as mayor, more than 25 years ago. “Mr. Brest likes to lecture, the Rabastinois remember that he was much less efficient in action. »
