It’s official. Grand Montauban (GM) will count a new municipality from January 1, 2025confirmed the Urban Community (CA) this Friday December 20.
A transition from eleven to twelve municipalities
And the lucky one is Léojac-Bellegarde which will initially join the CA of Grand Montauban on the administrative plans et financiersbefore being represented within the community council et other instances in April 2025. Thus, this territory will therefore no longer have 11 municipalities, 12 more, from next year.

A process started in 2022
If its integration into the GM will be effective in 2025it is in the month of mars 2022 that the elected officials of Léojac-Bellegarde deliberated, at the Municipal Council, to take action aiming to join this CA and thus withdraw of the Quercy Vert-Aveyron Community of Communes to which it was attached.
Our village will regain its true living area and can prepare for the future with peace of mind: this step forward is largely in line with everyone’s daily lives. We will benefit from the contribution of skills and technologies from the Agglomeration for projects that benefit everyone,” underlined Christian Quatre, mayor of Léojac.
A few months after the start of this request, it is in May 2023 that Léojac-Bellegarde’s application for membership was approved by the elected representatives of the GM, before the prefect of Tarn-et-Garonne Vincent Roberti made it official, by decree dated February 5, 2024its joining the Urban Community.
A territory that continues to grow
With the entry of a new commune, the territory of Grand Montauban continues to expand on several levels since it now has 82.172 habitants, 8,507 companies, 41,360 jobs and now extends over an area of 293.7 km2.
