VB rounds: 3
Mladost Zagreb: 0
Implacable. Tours VB left only a few crumbs to their evening opponent, Zagreb, this Wednesday, December 18 in the CEV Cup. Because apart from a small air gap at the start of the third set, once their qualification was assured, the Tourangeaux flew through their round of 16 second leg. Enough, obviously, to satisfy them.
Marcelo Fronckowiak (TVB entertainer) : “It was important to come into this match showing all the tools. The players showed a lot of seriousness. We were also able to adjust the playing times a little, by giving rhythm to Ryan (Sclater)using a little Roland (George) with Ryan. The comeback we make in the third set is also interesting. »
Radovan Gacic (coach of Zagreb): “Tours played very well. I’ve watched a lot of their matches and I think tonight they served better than in any other match. But we fought, we tried to do our best. They were simply better than us. We would have been disappointed if we hadn’t shown anything, hadn’t tried, but here they were just stronger. Congratulations to them, we wish them the best for the future. They can clearly go to the quarter-finals. »
Antoine Pothron (TVB receiver-attacker): “We knew it was a team with young players who are there to show themselves, to give everything, so we expected to make big impacts from the start. We reacted very well, we immediately put them under pressure and when we do that, we are a steamroller. We were serious until the end, even at the end, when we were down by four points, we managed to come back. Amriswil? It will undoubtedly be two complicated matches against an opponent that we don’t know at all, but before that, we have important matches to manage well. For now, we have a few days of vacation and we all need to take a breather. »
Leandro Aracaju (TVB central): “We had a good match today, with our level of service making the difference. A match like that, with two sets to win, is always a little difficult to manage because you need to be 100% focused straight away to win these two sets, and then something else begins. Now we have four days of rest and then we will think about Poitiers with a very important match. »
Luca Ramon (free from TVB) : “It was not an easy match, despite the score at the end, but we were able to make the difference during the important points. Zagreb are a young team, with a lot of physical qualities, and they had nothing to lose. It was a trap today but we stayed serious, we held on to the impacts, we calmed them from the start so we made the task easier. »
Gonzalo Quiroga (TVB receiver-attacker): “This is an important period for us, we are progressing day by day. We only needed two sets but it was difficult because our opponents played well. I think we made the difference in the service, an area in which we were very good tonight. We put pressure on them and that was the key to the match. »
Zeljko Coric (passer of TVB): “This match was a trap and a real challenge. It was good to finish it in three sets, after securing qualification. We wasted a few points in the third set, which forced us to go get them. But we showed that, even under pressure, we are capable of winning. I just want to congratulate my teammates on this match. We are in a good dynamic, now we are going to rest a little before turning towards Poitiers, with a little desire for revenge. »
