Bressuire
Périgny
Tulle, Limoges, Challans, Ouest Tourangeau or even Cholet. At 32 years old, Cédric Leandro’s CV is one of those which, on the scale of Regional 1, weighs rather heavily.
Having already tasted National 3, the midfielder hardly hesitated this summer, when making the short journey between Maine-et-Loire and Bocage Deux-Sévrien.
“In Cholet, the club was administratively relegated and everything was a bit vague. I was looking for a team on the side that would be quite ambitious and with a family environment”asks the native of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine in Yvelines.
The FCB, then, was obvious. “I had two choices but I felt from the first exchanges that with Bressuire, it would work. I had already played against them when I was in Tulle and Limoges, in N3. I knew a little about the environment and also the players who had been there. All the feedback indicated that it was healthy”says the man who started at USC Conflans, in his native Yvelines.
An express adaptation
On site, Leandro also had to manage a fairly rapid change of coach which, ultimately, did not have too much impact on the Deux-Sévrian collective.
“Obviously, we had to readjust, with a new organization and a new way of doing things, but the group took it rather well. And then, this has already happened to me several times in my career. With the new coach, things went well straight away,” engages the one who had already encountered Samir Bakir, formerly of RC Cholet, during his visit to the other club in the city.
So, a few weeks after arriving, the adaptation went perfectly. Maybe even a little better than expected.
“Frankly, it’s going very well. I feel like a fish in water, I feel like I’ve been at the club for five years”laughs Cédric Leandro, currently fifth in the ranking with his comrades. “For the moment, we are on track, even if I think we could perhaps have done better”he continues.
Périgny, a first turning point?
With an almost impervious defense – five goals conceded in eleven matches – Bressuire is indeed navigating in this leading pack where everything is very tight.
All that remains is to find a little more offensive efficiency now. “A lot of times, whoever has one of the best defenses goes up at the end. There, we are missing a little offensive spark but once we have it, we will be close to the objectives”poses the one who, in this rather young workforce, acts as road captain.
“I have played at different levels and I have often competed in the climb in recent years. I was also brought in for that, for this role of big brother which I like and which I had in Limoges as in Cholet, with the reserve”he mentions.
And this poster facing Périgny (3e), this Saturday, December 21, would almost act as a small turning point.
“For us and for them, this is the match that can put us through the holidays. This is something important to get off to a good start afterwards. But it won’t be easy: on the other hand, it’s a training that no one really expected but which is on a very good dynamic, and which everyone has said good things to me.” warns Leandro, rather seduced by the level of the hen.
“In the Pays de la Loire, we are used to saying that the Nouvelle-Aquitaine pool on the Deux-Sèvres side is weaker, but there are good teams, with good players, like Feytiat. A small gap is widening in terms of game offerings between the top and bottom of the rankings but it is a very complicated, very homogeneous championship. he finishes. Hence the importance of experience, to extricate yourself from it.
