The traditional greeting ceremony to the living forces of the Montpellier Metropolis, which takes place every year at Corum, will not take place on January 8, 2025 as planned. Michael Delafosse has in fact decided toCancel and mentions “ the strong budgetary constraint that the State imposes on the Metropolis.
“The situation of public finances in our country is difficult, the State having allowed the public deficit to slip by significant proportions. Local authorities are heavily penalized to the tune of 25 million euros for the Metropolis and 7 million for the city of Montpellier, threatening the functioning of the public service,” explains Michaël Delafosse.
The president of the Metropolis continues: “In a spirit of responsibility and seriousness, we will reduce investment by 30% and operating expenses will be concentrated on the essential.” First cut announced therefore, the wish ceremony which takes place every year at Corum is canceled. “I am certain that this decision will be shared and understood,” he concludes.
