“The crime that Yanick Morandeau committed is the most serious that exists in our criminal law. I ask you to be severe and to pronounce a sentence commensurate with the savagery that was committed, by which you will remind that life of Eric Diard was not worth the price of jealousy”, asked Mr. Lapertot.
Also injured on the day of the incident, Yanick Morandeau’s partner did not attend the trial, “eaten up by the weight of overwhelming guilt”, according to her lawyer Alexandra Vautrin.

56 wounds noted
Doubting the loyalty of his partner, Yanick Morandeau placed a GPS tracker in his vehicle. On September 17, 2020, early in the afternoon, he consulted this GPS tracker 44 times, between 1:05 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., before going to the place where his wife had gone, to check what she was doing.
There, he surprises her in the utility vehicle in gallant company. Her lover, Eric Diard, is a professional musician and distinguished drummer. Yanick Morandeau then lashes out and attacks his rival with a knife.
