INSEE has revealed the demographic data finalized at the end of 2022 in . The population continues to climb in Puy-de-Dôme and Allier.

The latest figures from INSEE on the number of inhabitants in France were published this Thursday, December 19.

Puy-de-Dôme and Clermont-Ferrand increasingly populated

According to demographic data finalized at the end of 2022, the department of Puy-de-Dôme has 664,385 inhabitants. A figure up compared to 2016 (650,700 inhabitants).

HAS Clermont-Ferrandthe population continues to climb! In 2022, the city had 147,751 inhabitants. In 2021, the figure was 147,327. In 2016, there were 142,686 inhabitants.

The city of Clermont therefore recorded growth of 0,6% between 2016 and 2022. For Puy-de-Dôme, population growth is lower, with an average annual variation of 0,3 %.

Fewer and fewer inhabitants in Allier

The situation is different in Allier. The population is decreasing between 2016 and 2022, going from 339,384 to 334.715 habitants.

The most populated city in the department remains Montluçonwith 33,317 inhabitants in 2022 (compared to 36,147 in 2016). A decreasing figure, which is not the case Vichy notably.

There are now 25,702 Vichyssois and Vichyssoises in 2022 (compared to 24,383 in 2016).

Always more people in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Note that the population of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes continues to climb, while slowing down according to INSEE.

In 2022, the number of inhabitants amounts to 8.163.884 (compared to 7,916,889 in 2016).

Between 2016 and 2022, the region’s population growth is 41.000 habitants additional per year on average. A variation which is not as strong as between 2011 and 2016 (57,000 additional inhabitants).

She nevertheless remains the second most populous region in Francebehind Île-de-France (more than 12 million inhabitants).
