The Ligue 2 club Grenoble Foot 38 announced, Wednesday December 18, that it had temporarily laid off its coach Oswald Tanchot, who arrived at the start of the season. He was laid off.”while awaiting developments in an ongoing procedure“, indicated the Grenoble club in a press release, without further details.
According to information from Dauphiné Libérérecurring tensions between the 51-year-old coach and the club’s management are said to be at the origin of this rupture. Oswald Tanchot would have irritated the Grenoble management by his statements in the press, criticizing training conditions which he considered insufficient for a Ligue 2 team.
The coach had previously managed FC Sochaux-Montbéliard (National, 3e division) during the 2023-2024 season. During his year at Sochaux, the club experienced a spectacular recovery, going from 8e at 4e place in the Coupe de France rankings. “He did a very good job with our young people“, greeted Jean-Claude Plessis, the president of FC Sochaux, upon his departure.
Oswald Tanchot had also been coach of Le Havre (2016-2019) and Amiens (2020-2021).
