Legendary artist, Ben Harper is back at the Carcassonne Festival, still alongside The Innocent Criminals, on July 25, 2025 for a new exceptional and intimate evening.
Ben Harper is one of the best songwriters of his generation. He is also one of the most versatile and courageous songwriters, working in a range of genres from pop, reggae and soul, to blues, rock, funk and folk. He recorded 18 studio albums and gained worldwide notoriety, selling more than 16 million records worldwide and winning three Grammy Awards (best traditional soul gospel album, best pop instrumental performance and best blues album). Ben was born on October 28, 1969. While his music and career embody the sonic bravura, brilliance, lyrical honesty and social activism of this pivotal era, Harper adds his unique cultural awareness of the modern era, bringing music with a social conscience into the present, as evidenced by her 2023 nomination for the all-new Grammy Special Merit Award for Best Song for Social Change. In 2022, Harper performed a series of 12 sold-out concerts at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California with hit singer Harry Styles. The duo previously collaborated on Harry Styles’ Grammy-winning album Harry’s House. Ben notably played guitar on the song Boyfriends. He has written songs for Mavis Staples, Natalie Maines, Tom Morello, Taj Mahal, Rickie Lee Jones, Charlie Musselwhite, Solomon Burke and The Blind Boys of Alabama. He has recorded in the studio with Harry Styles, Keith Richards, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, John Lee Hooker, Ringo Starr and Ziggy Marley (to name a few) and performed live with Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Harry Styles and many more. Harper’s latest album, Wide Open Light, was released in June 2023 and includes Yard Sale, a duet with Jack Johnson. It follows the album Bloodline Maintenance, which was nominated for a Grammy Award for its political and personal revelations, its fearlessness and its fortitude.
