The black series continues in the Pink City. No one has forgotten the collapse of the building on rue Saint-Rome last March. There Toulouse town hall including, which since then, multiplies the safety orders. A new one has just fallen, Tuesday December 17, 2024.
Around ten residents evacuated this weekend
It concerns the building at 13 rue Denfert-Rochereaubetween the Jeanne d’Arc and Jean Jaurès districts, evacuated three days earlier. Saturday December 14, the Haute-Garonne firefighters were engaged after the report of disturbing cracks on a load-bearing wall in an apartment located on the second and top floor.
24 hours to leave the building
In total, around ten people (residents of neighboring buildings were among them, editor’s note) had to leave their homes “until further notice”.
And there was new instruction. An urgent procedure has been initiated, prohibiting people from living in and accessing the building. Ce, within 24 hours.
Cracks, damaged beam and floor
The security order speaks in particular of “multiple cracks impacting a semi-load-bearing partition on the second floor following demolition work in another apartment, and in particular that of a semi-load-bearing partition with a wooden beam at the top on the lower floor”.
But also “cracked tiles on the ground floor”, and “strongly damaged wooden joists and corroded metal reinforcements” in the basement. So many problems raised following inspections by experts.
Work to be completed within 7 days
Thus, to guarantee the safety of residents, all owners must then rehouse their tenants until the final work is completed. Toulouse Town Hall imposes within seven days the securing the upper floor of the cellar and the beam of the apartment in poor condition.
Shoring will take over to keep the building on its feet. In town, this will be the third building to benefit from this strange decor…
