the essential
The Tisséo network has just broken its attendance record in 2024. The mark of 200 million validations was crossed on December 18. Tisséo is the network which is making the most progress in France.
The Tisséo bus, tram, metro and cable car network is breaking attendance records. The mark of 200 million validated journeys, which Jean-Michel Lattes, the president of the Toulouse public transport organizing authority, Tisséo Collectivités, had announced for this year was reached this Wednesday, December 18. These 200 million validations, which are equivalent to 139 million trips since January 1, represent an increase of 6.7% compared to 2023.
With 114 million validations, or 57% of the total, it is the metro which, unsurprisingly, transports the most people. Monitoring of the bus network and in particular the Linéos, these buses with increased frequency (every 6 to 9 minutes during peak hours) which operate over a time slot from 5:15 a.m. to midnight. Specifically, buses account for 34% of total ridership, 40% of which comes from Linéos.
The fastest growing network
Above all, Tisséo exceeds the previous record which dates from 2019, i.e. before Covid (198 million validations). Jean-Michel Lattes often repeats it: Tisséo is the network which is making the most progress in France and which is recovering best from the 2020-2021 pandemic.
During the union council meeting on December 11, the president of Tisséo Collectivités stressed that this progression was taking place “as is”, after the doubling of the capacity of line A and with the bus and Linéo effect. As is, i.e. “offline C”. Which is a way of responding to the opposition for whom this 3.1 billion project blocks any other development of the network.
The increase in attendance is also good news on a financial level for Tisséo which expects around €120 million in commercial revenue in 2024. It is obviously not this resource which can finance the 3rd line but it contributes to the key parameter of self-financing.
To be precise, Tisséo includes in its statistics validations in its park and ride, on bicycles and the train (Colomiers line). Furthermore, attendance in 2024 was driven by major events such as the La Machine urban opera, the Rose festival, etc.
