The Elysée on Wednesday, December 18, thanked the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, for his role in the release of four civil servants imprisoned in Burkina Faso for espionage for a year, indicates a dispatch from the AFP press agency.

As a reminder, these are agents of the DGSE (Directorate General of French Foreign Intelligence) who were arrested in Ouagadougou in December 2023. A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was published on the evening of December 18 to 19 , reporting mediation by King Mohammed VI.

According to AFP, the DGSE announced this Thursday, December 19 in the morning the release of four French people detained in Burkina Faso, confirming information from the Moroccan press. These four officials were accused of espionage and imprisoned for a year in this West African country.

Emmanuel Macron “spoke yesterday, Wednesday December 18, 2024, on the telephone with Her Majesty le roi Mohammed VIKing of Morocco, to warmly thank him for the success of the mediation which made possible the release of our four compatriots held for a year in Burkina Faso”, reacted the Elysée.
