Weightlifters are well into the season and are taking on new challenges. Several highlights are worth remembering. The first week of December, a mixed team round took place in Pamiers. “We received the Haltéro Club Figeacois and the Haltéro Club Montalbanais for this competition,” says Fabrice Maury, experienced weightlifter, coach and now president of the club. He continues: “The Pamiers team was represented by Sandrine Debeve, Mélissa Perriat, Lucie Cottard, Gérard Moreno and Yann Lenerand.
In the first plateau (female), Mélissa Perriat achieved 41 kg in the snatch and 52 kg in the clean and jerk (total: 93 kg). Lucie achieved 61 kg in the snatch and 75 kg in the clean and jerk (total: 136 kg), a result close to the interregionals. Sandrine Debeve, for her part, totaled 68 kg.
In the second plateau (men), Gérard Moreno achieved a total of 136 kg. Yann, for his part, lifted 68 kg in the snatch and 108 kg in the clean and jerk (total: 176 kg). Congratulations to him for his first competition.
“It was a pleasant day in the premises of the Pamiers weightlifting club where all the participants achieved great performances. We thank the city and our partners for their support.”
Last Saturday, direction Montauban for the national criterium of Occitanie. Two athletes from the Pamiers club, David Peruga and Basharat Souhail, were qualified. Unfortunately, Basharat Souhail was unable to participate due to an injury, but it was only a postponement. David Peruga therefore presented himself to the competition alone, accompanied by his coach Fabrice Maury. He achieved a great performance with 98 kg in the snatch and 117 kg in the clean and jerk. A very good performance for David.
Sandrine Debeve and Gérard Moreno refereed the competition. “We thank the Montalbanais Weightlifting Club for its welcome,” underlines Fabrice Maury. Now it’s time for the break before tackling the next events next year.
