Two searches, concerning the possession and trafficking of narcotics, were carried out in Beauce last week, reports the weekly bulletin of the Sûreté du Québec.

First on December 10, in a residence in Saint-Georges. Police officers from the MRC Beauce-Sartigan and Beauce-Centre station seized approximately 275 methamphetamine tablets, 200 grams of Crystal meth, 30 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of crack, $3,000 in cash and two brass knuckles. Two men aged 30 and 55 were arrested and released with promises to appear in court following the search.

Then on December 12, police officers from the MRC Beauce-Centre station carried out a search of two residences in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce. They recovered nearly 200 methamphetamine pills, nearly 10 grams of cannabis, as well as a telescopic baton. A 64-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man were arrested and released with promises to appear in court following the search.

Impaired driving

— On the evening of December 10, MRC Beauce-Sartigan police officers responded to a collision at the intersection of 165th street and 10th avenue, in Saint-Georges. There were no injuries. However, one of the drivers, a 42-year-old man from Saint-Georges, was arrested and his breathalyzer test results revealed a blood alcohol level greater than twice the legal limit. He will face a charge of driving while impaired by alcohol. His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle seized for 30 days.

— On December 12, around 7:30 p.m., patrol officers from the MRC Beauce-Sartigan carried out a road check at the intersection of Boulevard Dionne and Route 271, in Saint-Georges, in order to check the driving status of users of the road. A Beauceron in his forties presenting symptoms of impaired capacity therefore had to carry out the breathalyzer tests. Faced with his refusal to submit to these tests, he will face a charge of driving while impaired by alcohol and refusing to provide a breath sample to the breathalyzer. His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle seized for 30 days.

— On December 15, around 4:30 p.m., MRC Beauce-Sartigan patrol officers responded to a call of a hit-and-run that occurred at the intersection of 1ère avenue and 118e rue, in Saint-Georges. The 60-year-old driver, from Saint-Georges, missed a turn and damaged a sign in his path. He continued on his way and caused a collision opposite 10125 boul. Lacroix. A female passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The man will face charges of driving while impaired by alcohol and hit and run. His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was parked.

— On December 14, around 11 p.m., on the road from President-Kennedy to Scott, MRC de la Nouvelle-Beauce patrol officers arrested an individual from Saint-Elzéar, in connection with driving with abilities impaired by alcohol. The man also had nearly 20 methamphetamine pills in his possession, which were seized, as well as a pistol. The man, aged in his mid-thirties, was taken to the Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce police station. His driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days and his vehicle seized. He was released by summons to appear. The investigation is continuing.
