Foot 38 announced the precautionary dismissal of its coach Oswald Tanchot, less than a year after his arrival.

This decision comes in a context of sporting crisis and chronic instability at the head of the club, currently 12th in Ligue 2. Arriving in July 2024, Oswald Tanchot had started his mandate well, giving a glimpse of a promising season. However, since October 18, the GF38 has not won a single match, accumulating 7 unsuccessful matches. With an unsatisfactory record, Grenoble stagnates in the soft underbelly of Ligue 2, far from its initial ambitions. This series of poor results undoubtedly precipitated the dismissal of the head coach, although the official reasons have not yet been specified.

Grenoble is looking for a new coach

The dismissal of Oswald Tanchot illustrates a recurring instability at the head of GF38. Last March, the club had already sacked Vincent Hognon, replaced at the end of the season by Laurent Peyrelade, before Tanchot took the reins. This rapid succession of coaches demonstrates a difficulty in establishing a stable and sustainable project. Despite solid experience acquired at , , and FC Sochaux, the current coach has not succeeded in relaunching a Grenoble team in search of consistency.

GF38 must face (N2) this Saturday in the 32nd final of the Coupe de , but the club has not yet announced who will act as interim on the bench. Rapid clarification is essential to prevent this situation from further worsening the sporting crisis. To redress the situation, the GF38 will have to quickly clarify Tanchot’s situation, by communicating the precise reasons for his layoff and appoint a new coach or establish a solid interim to ensure the transition. The GF38, which is struggling to get out of the second half of the ranking, risks seeing its season turn into a fiasco without a rapid recovery.
