But Lucart does not stop there, quite the contrary. In 10 years, the company has reduced its water consumption, with 9.48 cubic meters per ton of paper produced (35.9% less than in 2013), the objective being to reach 9.40 in 2025. Specific energy consumption has also decreased significantly over the last decade (-25% compared to 2014), and 83.7% of waste is recovered.

In addition to this, the group signed a partnership with Enel X in 2022, to continue to reduce emissions from its factories. A photovoltaic system could then see the light of day in the Vosges, as is the case for the Diecimo factory in Italy (1,160 tonnes less CO2 emitted per year).

Scientific approval

Still with this environmental goal, Lucart joined the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) in order to develop scientifically approved decarbonization. Compared to 2021, specific Scope 1 emissions (emissions directly controlled by the company) were reduced by 7% and specific Scope 2 emissions (indirect emissions linked to the production of electricity, steam or heat) by 33%.

All this while continuing to improve the company’s turnover. In 2023 the Laval-sur-Vologne factory was able to boast a turnover of 130 million euros, almost three times more than 15 years ago.

“We are particularly proud of these results, because they are the most tangible demonstration of how a company can simultaneously achieve excellent economic performance and a very high level of environmental and social commitment,” explained Alessandro Pasquini, president of Lucart in , during the presentation of the company’s sustainable development report in Rome.
