A real tragedy occurred this Wednesday morning in Tourcoing. A interim agent of Ilevia died while intervening on the tramway track, at the Pont Hydraulique stop on the Tourcoing branch.
According to information from our colleagues at La Voix du Nord, the 38-year-old father of two was blowing away dead leaves on the tracks when he was hit by a tram. Firefighters had to lift the tram to free the body. Two colleagues of the victim and the tram driver were transported to the Dron hospital center in Tourcoing, in a state of shock.
Traffic gradually resumed around 1 p.m., after being interrupted all morning.
