The approximately 500 spectators gathered on the esplanade of the Town Hall of Caen (Calvados)this Wednesday, December 18, 2024, had reason to be surprised! Come to attend the opening of the 18th box of Advent calendar set up by the municipality on the facade of the Abbaye-aux-Hommes, they were surprised to see the players of the four professional teams of the city – the footballers of SM Caenthe basketball players of Caen BCthe handball players of Caen HB and the hockey players of HC Caen – gathered for one exceptional happening.

Caen athletes descend from the town hall on a zip line

The Caen athletes were not afraid: they descended from the floors to the square, on a zip line! These are Drakkars hockey players who started first. Ronan Quémener, Alexandre Mulle, Marc-Antoine Pépin and Quentin Berton threw themselves into the void as scouts.

Arriving downstairs, they offered gifts to the supporters present, white-hot by Pierre Salzmann, the famous host of Caen Basket Calvados. The public notably received tickets for upcoming meetings, to the delight of the mascots. Dunky (Caen BC), Vik (SM Caen) and Patator (Caen HB).

After the Drakkars, the Caen Handball Vikings took over: Jordan Allais, Allan Villeminot, Jean-Emmanuel Kouassi, Yannis Mancelle, Mario Dorado and Louis Tournellec took turns stepping over the parapet. Side Caen BCAntoine Rojewski and Pierre Hannequin were not bothered by their large size.

Players from Stade Malherbe were also present. Valentin Henrythe right back currently injured, took part in the game.
