The case was brought to light thanks to an investigation carried out by the Sartène research brigade (BR), seized by the public prosecutor’s office as part of the fight against drug trafficking. For almost ten months, the gendarmes of the judicial police mobilized significant resources, including surveillance and special investigative techniques under the direction of a public prosecutor.
Investigations revealed a well-organized network. “The investigation revealed 109 regular customers, who mainly obtained their cocaine from an identified supplier. In total, 1.5 kilos of cocaine were sold, for a market value of around 150,000 euros,” said Nicolas Septe, public prosecutor at the Ajaccio judicial court. Deliveries were made discreetly, often to a parking lot in Propriano, the central point of the network.
Tried this Tuesday, the two main protagonists were respectively sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment for one and 2 years of imprisonment for the other. “The sentences handed down are heavy and justified by the seriousness of the facts and the scale of the trafficking,” added Nicolas Septe. The two men were kept in custody following the hearing.
This operation illustrates, according to the prosecutor, “the determination of the judicial services and law enforcement to fight firmly against drug trafficking which affects our territories”.
