Call for a strike at the Local Solidarity Service

The Sud Collectivités Territoriales union calls on the agents of the Est Local Solidarity Service to go on strike, Thursday, December 19, 2024. The union organization describes, in a press release, agents who “ are no longer able to work properly in the interests of the people they support “. A service of the Department of Isère, the SLS brings together social workers and is aimed at people in precarious situations to help them in the areas of housing, health, integration, child protection or still a handicap.

« For several years, the various social policies implemented by successive governments have led to a significant breakdown in social protections. This has a direct impact on the number of households supported, but we also see a greater precariousness of situations overall. », describes Sud. Who considers that the agents lack the means, human and material, to respond to this situation.

The union explains that the SLS workforce was reduced ten years ago, “ following a reorganization of the Department’s social services “. And denounces a continued reduction in the resources allocated by the Department to service provider associations, which “ can no longer, in fact, fulfill their mission and send them back to the SLS “. Finally, the organization points to a “ significant disinvestment from other institutions concerned with social and medico-social action », such as Caf, CPAM, CCAS or the prefecture.

However, the Department would have expressed its refusal to hire staff for its local solidarity service. “ During a meeting with management, the latter even said that the agents had to receive the public in an unlimited manner without any planned job creation. », declares the union. Agents who have at heart the values ​​of welcome and unconditionality of public service », et « refuse to continue supporting people in these increasingly degraded conditions », concludes the press release.
