Transfers. Top 14 – Union Bordeaux Bègles on pole to enlist Xan Mousques (Bayonne)

Xan Mousques (19 years old) reaches the end of his contract next June. After promising first outings in the Top 14, the winger or full-back is popular and in recent weeks, several big players from the championship have positioned themselves on the file. To date and even if nothing has yet been signed, the UBB holds the rope.

Xan Mousques (19 years old), only has three Top 14 matches to his credit, but he attracts envy. Author of solid performances in the French championship, with a double in at the end of October, then a big match against Stade more recently, his first outings in the elite of French have not gone unnoticed.

According to our information, in recent weeks, several elite teams have looked into the matter, with varying degrees of interest. Stade Rochelais, which is seeking to prepare “after Brice Dulin”, has advanced its pawns and a meeting (by video) took place between the caravel club. Moreover, the young man did not remain insensitive to the appeals of the double European champion.
The Union Bègles, too, followed the file with great attention. For good reason, if the UBB has a three-star back triangle (Penaud, Bielle-Biarrey, Buros), its backfield often finds itself empty during periods of doubles. Which could benefit Mousques to progress, in a club which is targeting Brennus. Hérault Rugby was also interested in the player, since at the back, Julien Tisseron and Anthony Bouthier are at the end of their contract.

Was the future blocked in ?

After a long period of reflection on the part of the young man, it is, according to our information, the club chaired by Laurent Marti which holds the rope, to date, to enlist the former U20 international (7 caps). A two-year contract is being discussed, but to date, nothing has been signed yet.

On Jean Dauger’s side, the Basque decision-makers very logically sent an extension proposal to the player, but unless the situation turns around, it is far from the Basque Country that his future should be written. Mousques, used on the wing since the start of the season, is above all a full-back and so far, Cheikh Tiberghien, Yohan Orabé or Tom Spring seem to have a head start in the hierarchy, while on the wing , Nadir Megdoud and Mateo Carreras are still under contract next season.

After having succeeded in extending the promising Pierre Castillon (21 years old) and Esteban Capilla (21 years old), the sky and white leaders are now in a bad position in the “Mousques file”.
