The low emission zone mobility (ZFE-m) will be applied from January 1, 2025 within the Caen ring road and in ten neighboring municipalities. Therefore, the vignette Crit’Air will be returned OBLIGATORY for all vehicles and circulant.
The sticker must be ordered
For users, it is imperative to order the Crit’Air sticker, at the price of €3.77on the government website. In the event of absence of a sticker, the law provides a fine of 68 € for light vehicles and 135 € for heavy goods vehicles.
Caen and 10 neighboring towns
The interior of the Caen ring road was retained as the perimeter of the ZFE. This concerns 11 municipalities:
- Bretteville-sur-Odoon
- Caen
- Carpiquet
- Etherville
- Hérouville Saint-Clair
- Ifs
- Mondeville
- Cormelles-le-Royal
- Fleury-sur-Orne
- Louvigny
- Saint-Germain-la-Blanche-Herbe
On the other hand, four ways are excluded of the area and all lead to park-and-ride facilities:
- rue de Touraine, from Saint-Contest;
- the future boulevard des Pépinières, from Bretteville-sur-Odon, whose railway bridge has just been installed by SNCF Réseau, in record time;
- from Éterville and Louvigny, the RD 405 road leading to the Palais des Sports and the Zénith de Caen;
- from Ifs, avenue Jean Vilar.
Which vehicles will no longer be able to circulate on the ZFE?
In total, 2,000 vehicles will be excluded of the ZFE, according to Caen la mer. These are vehicles dating from before 1997. However, exemptions are possible and detailed on the Caen la mer website.
