The young victim, who was a patient of Dr Joseph Mbea Bitchoka, was barely an adult when they started having sex, in 2022. Their relationship lasted several months, according to the investigation by the College of Physicians of Quebec (CMQ).

According to the patient’s mother (whose identity is protected), her daughter became pregnant after only a few months of dating. The 21-year-old young adult is now the mother of a one-year-old child whose Dr Bitchoka admits to being the father, according to the CMQ.

The seven-year disbarment is one of the most severe imposed by the CMQ in matters of sexual misconduct.

A romantic relationship

For the Dr Bitchoka, it was a “romantic relationship”, the trustee indicated. According to our information, the general practitioner is 79 years old, but the CMQ did not want to confirm.

During the disciplinary council hearing on November 21, Dr Bitchoka had already committed to stopping practicing medicine. He worked alone in his Montreal clinic, where he followed nearly 2,000 patients.

In interview at Journal, the patient’s mother had stressed that the Dr Bitchoka had paid for two breast implant surgeries for her daughter, before and after giving birth.

“He called all the time, all the time,” she confided. He lured her with his money, luxury things, expensive bags, shopping, a trip to the South.”

“He was in control,” she lamented. My daughter couldn’t say no.”

A second sanction

The Dr Joseph Mbea Bitchoka thus receives a second radiation for sexual misconduct in his career. He was disbarred for two months for another affair with a patient in 2012.

Originally from Cameroon, the Dr Bitchoka arrived in Canada in 1979 and had been registered with the order since 1984.
