A great outpouring of solidarity took place on Tuesday, December 17, at the police headquarters on Place Suquet in Dijon. Administrative civilians and police officers came together to hand over numerous donations and thus help the animals at the Cailloux SPA shelter.
A first edition
Faced with the constant increase in the number of abandoned animals, the need for food and supplies is more pressing than ever. This is why the idea of organizing a collection within the brigade was born. “This is our first edition. We have a theme within the brigade which deals with animal abuse and neglect with around four to five reports monthly, which is exponential. Today, colleagues have mobilized by bringing many useful materials during this winter period,” explains Sandrine, from the legal support group and animal referent. Kibbles, pâtés, litter, duvets, blankets, leashes and toys were left by the officials, a way of demonstrating their attachment to animal welfare and their commitment to this cause.
A story that ends well
Mélina, animal manager at the SPA, introduced us to Eivor, a 4-month-old Staffordshire bull terrier dog found lying in a ditch and saved by the municipal police. The animal was treated and placed in a good home. At the end of this collection, Frédéric Vincent-Genod, deputy departmental director of the national police, presented a check for €600 to Jean Luc Chemin, director of the SPA, who noted that the rate of abandonments has changed significantly. “We are now constantly dropping out all year long,” he despairs.
