Since May 2023, terminals have been installed on the roads leading to Place d’Alger, in Le Mans (Sarthe).
They made it possible to limit access to Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. These restrictions are expanded.
Access to Algiers Square restricted every night
As of this Friday, December 20, 2024, this access limitation will no longer only be valid for these three days but every day. Concretely, it will no longer be possible to access the Algiers square between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m..
On these niches, it is impossible to access the square via rue du Port and rue de la Halle aux toiles, via rue d’Arcole and rue d’Alger or even via rue du Docteur Leroy.
A year and a half ago, the installation of these terminals was announced with the aim of reducing nocturnal nuisance on this square. At the time, the measures were received differently.
For its part, the town hall wanted this expansion of regulated access in consultation with the “heart of the city” neighborhood council: “the feedback on this measure is very positive and appreciated by local residents”.
