“The year 2024 was marked by four important interventions: relief following the floods of Storm Kirk, including the unfailing commitment of the underwater team, an apartment fire in Chartres, the cottage fire in Jouy and the accident at Bailleau-le-Pin which left seven dead”, summarized, Friday, Captain David Cœur-Joly, head of the main mixed rescue center at Chartres-Champhol.
Interventions outside the department
The rescuers of this center carried out 6,296 interventions in 2024, compared to 6,294 in 2023. A stable trend. But the officer hammered out another figure which gives a precise vision of the weight of the missions this year: “There were 8,600 machine trips this year, or an average of 24 per day. »
The Chartres-Champhol rescuers do not only operate on the outskirts of the city. They also represented valuable reinforcements in different places, such as in Mayotte, in New Caledonia, in the south of France for the forest fires, or for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. A very busy year for firefighters.
A new tanker truck at €300,000
Captain David Cœur-Joly addressed his staff during the Sainte-Barbe ceremony: “Beyond the commitment, I want to highlight the collective within this center. You demonstrated this collective on a daily basis during interventions, but also during challenges, projects, sporting events, from the Telethon to the open day, but also during the various ceremonies or the July 14 parade. »
The officer thanked the firefighters’ association which, according to him, plays a “unifying role” in the life of the center of Chartres-Champhol. The latter was equipped with a new forest fire tanker worth €300,000. The management of the Eure-et-Loir departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis 28) also invested in the major restoration of a light ton pump van. It was a matter of renovating it and providing it with modern devices to extend its lifespan: “This van is very practical for the city center. »
At the end of the various speeches, several personalities received medals for acts of courage and dedication, medals of honor at bronze, silver and gold levels, citations for dangerous interventions, medals of seniority and stripes. .
