Volunteering
Tired of showoffs and party favors? Give your time! There is no shortage of organizations looking for volunteers during the holidays, starting with Nez Rouge and its courageous chauffeurs who escort revelers safely home. You don’t have a license? Look at the General Hospice in Geneva or the Mother Sofia Foundation and its soup kitchen in Lausanne.

By train
Agatha Christie atmosphere (minus the murders, we hope) with this vintage train trip departing from Lausanne or Vallorbe. The journey takes you through the typical postcard landscapes of our country, with a welcome aperitif, an 8-course menu and champagne at midnight, as it should be, before returning to the departure station. The bar car takes care of the musical part.

By torchlight
In Valais, each resort has its ideas to entertain holidaymakers on the 31st. Grimentz (but also Veysonnaz) is renowned for its torchlight descent, supervised by the Swiss Ski School. Mulled wine and tea await athletes at the arrival stage, to the sound of fifes and drums, a moment of conviviality which ends with fireworks. Then, the numerous restaurants in the village await you with their gastronomic menu, for example at Table d’André, at Flocons de Neige, or Da Claudio and its Italian menu.
