We remember that the Federal Council announced on May 26, 2021 that it was putting an end to negotiations with a view to signing a framework agreement between Switzerland and the European Union. In project since the beginning of the 2000s, it aimed in particular to update the various bilateral agreements concluded between the two entities. Bern and Brussels, however, decided last March to officially relaunch the talks, to the great dismay of the UDC. The new negotiations aimed to update five existing agreements (free movement; recognition of conformity assessments; land transport; air transport; and agriculture) and to develop new agreements (electricity; food safety; and health). Switzerland’s participation in the EU agencies for the space program and for railways was also at stake.
