Prison closed for trying to poison one of their friends with a cup of chocolate in Saint-Eloy-de-Gy

“This issue is absolutely sad and yet we all pinched ourselves not to laugh.” In a sentence taken from his pleading, Me Damien Vinet, of the bar, summarized the substance of this Monday afternoon, spent in the courtroom of the criminal court.

Kélian Dervogne, 25 years old, Fabien Wingerter, 34 years old, and Mélanie Bedin, 25 years old, came close to the Cher Assize Court. On the night of August 1 to 2, 2022, they stuffed a cup of chocolate with medicine and saturated it with sugar to hide the taste of the pills before offering it to their guest, in Saint-Eloy-de-Gy. “So that he dies,” said one of the three defendants coldly.

“Stupidity doesn’t have much of an explanation.”

Prosecuted for administration of a harmful substance aggravated in particular by premeditation and execution in a meeting, they neither denied the facts, and even less sought to minimize the effects on the pronouncement of their sentences.

“Stupidity does not have much explanation,” summarized Me Vinet, “in this delusional, unfounded, unjustified, perhaps even inexplicable act.” Inexplicable is the right adjective. After several hours of debate, neither the judges, nor the lawyers, nor the deputy prosecutor could have advanced on the deeper reason which pushed this picturesque trio, out of the loop and above all out of all control, into the arm of a criminal act.
