In Lorient, tenants of Morbihan Habitat divided on the regularization of their charges

This Wednesday, December 11, 2024, Morbihan Habitat organized an information meeting in . It was intended for tenants in the Kervénanec district. About fifteen of them responded favorably to this meeting proposal. These people were received by Thomas Prud'homme, agency director. The representative of the social landlord faced the anger of the assembly present. The latter complained in particular about the amounts of regularization of charges, which they consider excessive. Since November, tenants have expressed their dissatisfaction on social networks.

953 € of hot water

This Wednesday, the anger had not subsided. “I pay €530 in charges for a T2. My daughter who is in T3 does not have such a high bill,” says a tenant. “I owe €953 in charges this month, just for hot water,” comments another. Everyone is worried about not being able to pay these amounts if they do not decrease. They evoke a “feeling of abandonment” on the part of their lessor.

What should we do to make ourselves heard? Break and burn, like during the yellow vests?

A tenant wonders about what happens next: “What should we do to make ourselves heard? Break and burn, like during the yellow vests? » The subject has recently taken a political turn. MP Damien Girard spoke in Le Télégramme on November 29. He spoke of a “lack of communication and responsiveness” from Morbihan Habitat.

“Constructive” exchanges

Morbihan Habitat claims to have addressed this issue. Representatives of a tenant collective were welcomed last week at the headquarters in Lorient. Following these “constructive” exchanges, a demonstration, initially planned for this Friday, December 13 in Kervénanec, was canceled.

“We are satisfied with the announcements made by Morbihan Habitat,” declared the tenants’ group on December 11. Tenants now have the option of spreading the payment of their charges over several months. They can also use the Housing Solidarity Fund (FSL) and thus receive financial aid. The lessor also explained the differences between the regularization amounts requested from tenants. “The surface area matters, but also the level of energy consumption which can vary greatly depending on the exposure of the apartment, to the south or the north, if it is located on a gable or on the ground floor.”

Morbihan Habitat offers regular meetings in its local branches, neighborhood centers, social centers, as well as in its premises in Lorient and Hennebont.
